Since 1941, the year of its foundation, ITIS NOBILI, a state technical secondary school, has been providing 14 to 19 year old students with technical - scientific education and professional training, in a fruitful relationship with the manufacturing development of the province of Reggio Emilia and of nearby areas.
The course of study, lasting 5 years, leads to the secondary school diploma of Perito Industriale – Engineer. It is divided in a first two-year period, in which students are given a broad contents and skills base necessary to progress to the further three-year period of specialization.
Since 1987/88 the P.N.I (national IT plan) has been implemented, to phase information technology into Maths and Physics classes.
Students are offered 6 options of Specialization Courses:
· Electrical engineering and automation
· Electrical engineering and automation (evening classes)
· Mechanical engineering – Mechatronics
· Mechanical engineering ( evening classes)
· Clothes manufacturing
· Liceo Scientifico – Tecnologico ( a five year course with a special focus on scientific education, but no professional/vocational training. The final diploma corresponds to Maturità Scientifica)
Currently about 850 students attend the school while 150 attend evening classes.
The school is very active with a variety of projects focused on professional/vocational training, on English language training/use, on social and interpersonal development, on students’ support, on remedial work and on language support for foreign students, to quote only a few.
The school offers a wide range of technologically equipped laboratories: ICT, chemistry, physics, biology, technical design, language and multimedia, and, of course, the specific workshops for the professional / vocational training.
